We love Yosemite. It’s always been a special place for me and hubby. We both went there as children. We didn’t know each other back then, but it’s still shared memories of a different time. We took our kids there when they were little and have many camping stories. And, we made it our annual family reunion for many years. Yep. Lots of happy times.
Yosemite is close enough to drive over for the day. We have done this so many times! This year we are facing a drought and that will be so sad for all the wonderful falls at Yosemite. We decided to get over there and see the place while they have falls.
We practically had the park to ourselves!! It’s usually so crowded. What a pleasure to just drive around and not fight any traffic. We brought our doggies and had an awesome day.
And, of course, Yosemite is a great place for photography. I look forward to going back when there are some wildflowers. For this trip we concentrated on vista views and waterfalls. Here are a few of my favorites from that day.
This is a Vista View stop on our way to the valley. We always stop here!
This is Yosemite Falls, upper and lower.
A short walk up a paved path will take you right up to the waterfall. This photo is taken from the bridge.
Some spectacular views can be seen right from the road!
I have always loved El Capitan. It’s so enormous. I just can’t show you how big this is in a photo. It’s a popular place for rock climbers. If someone was climbing this mountain right now, they would be such a small speck, you wouldn’t even see them!
We wanted to go see the view from a different entrance. We have heard many things about the sunset view from this vantage. We did not get to see a spectacular sunset, boo, but the view we DID get to see was pretty amazing!
This is Bridal Veil Falls with the sun shining on it.
And this is the valley at sunset.
