Take the Tour of our Trailer Makeover!

Our journey began with a run down little Pop Up Tent Trailer that we found for only $500. We put in the time and effort and came out with a beautiful little camper! You can see that tour here: https://farrellfocus.com/wait-for-it-my-after-pics-are-ready-to-show-you-pop-up-tent-trailer-remodel/

We camped and camped and had a great time! You can see many of our trips on my YouTube Channel, FarrellFocus. After a couple of years, I started wanting a few things that my popup didn’t have. I think the first time I realized I wanted something else, was our “Camping Trip From Hell”, (see on on my channel) https://youtu.be/Uf4c_LUJIMc Hubby had bruised his ribs and was in such pain. He could not set up or take down the camper. I realized I wanted something that I could do myself without all the effort that I needed for our little (old) tent trailer.

So, I started searching. I really didn’t want a regular trailer. After having a pop up, I was spoiled by how spacious it is when it’s open. I just couldn’t give that up!! That’s when I discovered the “Hybrid”. It’s like a pop up, the beds open out, AND, it’s like a trailer too. So, I began the search.

Oh, man. We saw some real DUDS. Falling apart trailers, who would want that??? I set my budget for around $6,500. While that is a FORTUNE for us, it’s not a lot for a camper. I found one for $7,000 and I told hubby, “if there isn’t anything wrong with it, let’s just get it”. He’s so busy with his business, I just couldn’t ask him to keep driving around looking at trailers. And, anytime I found a hybrid, it would sell really fast. So, off we went to look at this trailer. We brought cash, and I really wanted to stick with our budget. I asked hubby to manage the deal, since I knew it was a guy selling the trailer. I don’t want to be sexist here, but I have found that men like to do the money deals between “men”. Lol. I asked him to haggle. My thought was to offer 6k and negotiate to the $6,500. Although I was pretty positive that the trailer would easily sell for $7k. It was just too much for us.

The Hybrid camper is a Forest River Shamrock 2005.

So, we went and looked at it and the guy and his son showed us everything. They were SO nice. I fell in love with it right away. When hubby made his offer, they guy said yes! With no haggling. lol. Sold for 6k!! Except hubby gave him $6,500 anyway. We both felt good about that. We weren’t trying to rip him off.

So, we decided to just take the camper out and find out what we didn’t know, which was A LOT!! I have a video of that trip here: https://youtu.be/c1iq9FeBYF0

And, that is when the whole remodel journey began. I love the way it has turned out and I can still think of some projects that I want to do!!

I have a playlist of the things I have posted on my channel of our remodel, you can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGtI8q5HENEok6rTZnJymR_lsaUsuJky_

One of my first projects, and one that I was most excited about, was to re-cover the dinette cushions. I just love how they turned out. Here is the video about that: https://youtu.be/EcnYioZCuRI

And, then I re-covered the Jackknife sofa. I just love this little couch. You can watch my video Here: https://youtu.be/JvCFuUHiO8I

Our 2020 season has not begun because of the Covid 19 stay at home orders. It’s such a bummer, because we had several trips that we planned and did not get to take. We will just have to make up for it when we are again able to get out there! Hopefully soon!

Here are just a few pics of the trailer both before and after:

I have other projects that I have filmed and not posted yet, so be sure to subscribe to my blog or my youtube channel to see when those are posted. and, I have more projects that I want to do! I would love to see your camper too!! Come find me on Facebook and lets share: facebook.com/stephaniefarrell123
